They came from out of space
A trillion lightyears away
Times a trillion ghastly face
Modeled from soggy clay

And they had a trillion heads
With a trillion mouths there
The species were trillipeds
Can you guess? Do you dare?

Yes! They had a trillion legs!
With which they walked awry
And they laid a trillion eggs
Before home they would fly

Beneath our sprawling city
A rumbling as they hatched
Which made us very s hitty
An earthquake unmatched

They ate up all the concrete
Which in itself was good
Though pretty indiscrete
Then started on the wood

When all that was gone
The metals, the plastic
The stuff we depended on
A future not so fantastic

Now fortunately for us
Not a moment too soon
Eventually they left us
Swarming to the moon

We were left with nothing
No house nor condiminium
Nor apartment, not a thing
Only the barest minimum

We built huts from mud
For where else to sleep?
Slime and grime and crud
In places two feet deep

And we cursed the days
They turfed us from our beds
Creatures from out of space
Each with a trillion heads

I liked the part about them eating up the concrete. There is always a bright side.

Thanks YesNo :)

I liked that bit too. I would've made more of it but I didn't want the theme to stray too far into the convoluted.

A trillion heads! A golden opportunity for milliners -- and makers of knock-off
major league baseball caps!

EDIT: Phew, no worries. It was just a poem.

Living with the barest minimum---not a bad idea at all.
