When I was a child back in the 40's in the North East my father used to recite a poem to me that used to make me cry! I'd dearly like to recite it to my two young grandchildren but I can only remember two "snatches" of it. I've even tried the Poetry Society to no avail so I'm hoping someone on this list can help.
It starts......... I am a kitten just three months old... then goes on a little further with.....I suppose I had a mother, but before I could tell one paw from the other, someone came and took me away, took me miles and miles away.
That's all I can remember so the question is this a "localised" piece of poetry?(my father was brought up in South Shields although I was born in Gateshead)because I have tried all over the place to try and identify it.
