Hi Zoo,

Here are a few of the 'themes' we were asked to write about in our local writers' group during the last 3 years. I'm sure plenty of others on here have a whole pile of ideas:

- The Trouble with Technology
- Lost in Paradise
- Fire
- Ash or Ashes
- A Portrait of someone you admire - or hate
- Something Seasonal
- An original story featuring a character in a book you have read
- Your favourite place
- A 50-word saga (a story with a beginning, middle and end written in exactly 50 words)
- A psychological thriller
- Shipwrecked (or just Wrecked
- Time
- Phobias
- Men (or Women)
- Flight
- Memory

Hi again,

Not sure which ones you're stuck with but I'm guessing most of the one-word themes are straightforward enough so:

- The Trouble with Technology
perhaps a story about what happens when we rely too much on mobile phones or the internet for instance - or how some people can't even handle more than one TV remote

- Lost in Paradise
think about the Garden of Eden and how it might not be as perfect a place to live as one might imagine

- An original story featuring a character in a book you have read
you could write about the Artful Dodger from 'Oliver Twist' when he became a successful businessman or Harry Potter when he took up a teaching job in Hogwarts (try to base it on a character you know really well)

If you need any more help let me know

Conflict- as in man and the machine or man v man

Nature and technology- how is nature affected by men exploit around the globe and space

Beauty and what it means- how people feel about themsleves and what they consider as beautiful.
