Flash a smile, make 'em think I'm happy
Tell a lie, say I'm doing fine
Hide the tears, make them keep guessing
The agony burns but only for a while
Draw into my shell, protect my feelings
Insulate myself from the shocks of life
Walk alone except for my shadow
When no one's with me I don't hurt at all
But lies can't always express true feeling
Smile are but another way of baring teeth
Tears sometimes can be so soul cleansing
Agony smothers out given time
Face the day, what else is there to do
The night comes on, where will it find me
Will sleep bring rest or will nightmares visit
Could it even be the sweet cold lips of Death?
