Scribus is a free desktop publishing software. I downloaded it today. I decided I want to print some of my work out and just get it around. My friend is a pencil and pen artist. I asked him to contribute some illustrations. I think the outcome will be something worth while. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience in self-publishing. Also I am looking at this program for the first time and it is quite confusing.

I haven't used that program, but it appears to be a word processor wit a few additional features. Take a look at the creator's site and look at the tutorials.

Actually, I think that I looked at this a few years ago and didn't think much of it. It probably is better now.

Scribus is a very fine programme (it's the capable open source equivalent to Adobe InDesign). I'm using it for creating some articles from time to time.

At the beginning it may be a bit overwhelming, but it's rather easy to get familiar with it. The documentation is very helpful (http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Help:TOC)
