a simple state of mind
is that life comes to ripe
after moments of rides
when the winds and tides
have made way to St Ives
allowing seas to trench waves
towards horizons and caves
and
when the sun has engaged
in a painting of layers
between the skies and dayers
to reflect on St Dawn
whilst approaching the roon
amongst sailers and moon

No matter what anybody says -- preaches-- it is okay to use end rhyme in modern verse, BUT that's only when the rhyme scheme works. Inept use of the device is what has given rhyme such a bad rep. Choosing words merely because of their sounds to the detriment of meaning cripples the whole effect, making the entire verse sound "lame." Another caveat about rhyme is that it has to mesh completely with meter, syllable for syllable, stress for stress. Unless you're writing a humorous piece, never attempt to use end rhyme in "free" verse.

(Check your spelling also.)
