Pride is often administered in small doses when something we have done said or simply stumbled upon by chance nudges us to feel and act with that wow factor stunned but very happy.

Amongst many things that make me proud is discovering new ideas and making a difference.

Achievements for me.

Since finishing highschool I've tried to achieve at least one thing every day, usually this results in two or three daily achievements, sometimes more. But you can't beat the big ones - the cumulative achievements that make for a totality that may be twelve months in the planning and execution, and finally succeed.

You've set a goal, attained it, and can relax with a peace of mind that nothing can compare, sort of like being drunk but in a healthy way.

For example every day I'll work on a piece of music, sometimes it will be completed the same day as it was begun, this is rare because it needs to be listened to critically a number of times and the bass/treble, effects, mixing, compression, everything needs to be adjusted and re-adjusted. But when it happens it's a great and satisfying feeling.

Now over the months these pieces will take on a new dimension as they start to become part of an album, one with a solid theme because I'll have completed more than enough to choose the best tracks, and which I think best fit with each other to create the entire experience.

And because I have so many left over - Voila! Another album or two already completed at virtually the same time. But to get there it was all work, sometimes easy, sometimes difficult and full of headscratching, swearing and gnashing of teeth, but the audience'll never know :)

MystyrMystyry,
Perhaps we might share in some of your music? or maybe I missed it if you have posted.
I will venture to say you should be proud of your abilities around a computer and graphical endeavors.

A few things that I am proud of:

Immediate family and their accomplishments; wife’s recent promotion, my son doing well in school, plays violin and so far, at 17, he’s managed to stay on the path less travelled.

My now deceased parents, hardened by the depression years when young, served in WW II – mother was an Army nurse (state side) and my father was a fighter pilot in the Pacific Theatre. Both did an admirable job raising five children (I’m the youngest)

As a nurse my mother was part of the relief effort following the Texas City Disaster; the deadliest industrial accident in U.S history.

After the War, my father went on to earn a Major degree in engineering-physics and a minor in electrical engineering. Armed with those two degrees, he turned out to be a literal “rocket scientist”, working with the Scout missile program over twenty years. Btw the Scout missile was a research and satellite delivery vehicle, eventually made obsolete by the Space Shuttle program. He then transitioned into the SDI program from which the Patriot defense missile would become a reality.

Grandparents, especially on the maternal side. Maternal Grandfather and Grandmother were born in south Texas by parents who had just immigrated through Galveston from Bohemia/ Moravia.
Legend has it that my grandmother made beer in her bathtub during Prohibition, however there’s no question that she loved Drambuie- I have one of the wood crates that her Drambuie were shipped in.

Maternal grandfather served in WW I with the 143rd Infantry and took part in fighting along the Aisne River near Attigny, France.
Additionally, as mentioned a few times in the past, he is the one who planted the seed that has blossomed into a passion for books and reading among his descendents.

A few images related to the above are here:

Personal I’m proud of what my hands can do…hmmm, perhaps I should be specific; I’m not half bad with watercolor painting, graphite, charcoal or colored pencil sketching, wood work, dabbled in metal work.
I won Best of Show in a Dallas AIA (American Institute of Architects) delineation completion in the late 1980’s, with a graphite and watercolor piece; Breakdown of Elm Street
I’m proud of “Deruchette” my 16 foot wood and canvas canoe I built about 12 years ago, named after a character in Hugo’s Toilers of the Sea

Finally, I’m proud of the various odd things I’ve hoarded over the years such as vacuum tubes, old books, stamps, Britannica year books, coins, post cards, tools, rocks, fossils, leaves and bark.

Great topic!

I'm proud of -

My parents - They've been through a lot over their lives. Both of them have survived and escaped substance abuse, poverty, depression, and a general hopelessness. My mother was also the victim, a few times over, of domestic violence, and despite all she had to go through, she was always there for me and my little sister, and has kept her head up high. Last May, she received her Master's Degree. I'm very proud.

My relationship - Somehow, we've managed in our early 20's to live together for over a year and maintain a healthy, productive relationship with very few petty squabbles.

Her - She's also a pretty cool, inspiring human being.

Myself - I've read a lot of books, I managed to not fall into a few of the pits that were laid in front of me, and I'm going to college now. That's not so bad, I guess.
