Do you?

Yes, there was a period of time (maybe as long as a year?) though when I fell completely out of it. I think it was when I got internet access at my home for the first time. It was actually a little difficult to sit with a book for even 10 minutes when I decided I wanted to read some novels again. Now, fortunately, I get a little crazy if I go a night without reading an actual physical book, with no buttons on it.

Where is the option for "sometimes"?
Not that it matters as I actually love reading books (if I cannot find the movies they are based on first. Obviously).

Also, is the poll anonymous?

I must say, considering the focus of posts here at LitNet for some time, that the current results of this poll are rather surprising.:goof:

Damn straight! The best ****ing thing in the world is most certainly ****ing.

Ah now a poll about reading on a forum devoted to the rearrangement of largely abstract alphabet characters and spaces.
The question of reading arises a number of times during the course of a day, what to read? how to read? and most frequently Why am I reading this!?!?
There are books as favorite companions, books as time killers, and books as doorstops and tinder - but who hasn't plumped for a perusal of an old phone directory and had a good belly laugh at some of the names - now that's what I call good reading!

You either love it or you don't. There is no sometimes. And it's anonymous, yes. So?

Now how could you ever think such a thing?

Gutsy move put'n that out there and appropriate for this Forum.
Hot d**n I do like to read!
My Grandmother would always tell me after taking a snort of Drambuie; "Gilliatt, books will take you places your feet can't go".

Me I love reading, but I've found that I hate reading about reading, it wrecks it. Allusions to literature throughout regular conversation are nice, though.

This defiantly marks the low point of the year in terms of stimulating lit net conversation. I almost wish someone would bring back the Hitler thread, at least it made good conversation.

1: Fire hurts less. This is not always true, but if I had to choose between jumping in a fire or pissing off the the woman I've lived with for the last 11 years, I'm going with fire. (She is Irish, just sayin.)
2: Fire looks awesome all the time, even in the morning, with no makeup.
3: Fire is easier to keep happy. All it wants is more wood. Try that approach with an angry woman. :yikes::yikes:
Anyway, I voted yes. I love reading all the time, and the only time I'm not reading something is when I have just finished a book and need to let it digest for a few days before I move to the next one.

Me I love reading, but I've found that I hate reading about reading, it wrecks it. I find most people enjoy talking about books more than actual reading itself.

No.
Because when I read, I don't really read; I pop a beautiful sentence into my mouth and suck it like a fruit drop, or I sip it like a liqueur until the thought dissolves in me like alcohol, infusing brain and heart and coursing on through the veins to the root of each blood vessel.

YES. Especially now that I use reading glasses. For years I would get headaches from reading and I never put two and two together until the last year or so. Now I can read all day without getting eyestrain. Its glorious, truly glorious.

I'll take whatever you're taking, 'cause that sounds a lot more fun than how I usually read.
And I'm bummed I missed the inflammatory comments. Someone send me a PM to fill me in on the fun!

I have actually had the above conversation with some friends of mine some years ago. Their recommendation resulted in a combination of the two stlukesguild haha  but I would think that to be difficult!
But I do love reading haha. Not sure how I would arrange my list of things that I love the most though.
(My two cents' worth is finished. Don't want to get in trouble with the mods. It's been awhile since my last post after all!)

Hi Helga. :) Please forgive me for not including a disclaimer. I only hope to rectify my oversight, and improve my position, by adding here that my above post in no way includes Helga, who is, in fact, exactly like fire in all respects. I didn't want to incite others to jealousy, plus I thought it went without saying. I apologise, profusely.
On another note, does anyone else think this is a strange poll to find on a literature forum. Aren't we all here because we love reading? Maybe in off in left field again...
Helga

Well looking at the poll results not everybody loves it, 3 at least don't....
Maybe it's the amazing conversations and the insightful people that draw us in.
