Assuming we have all got qwerty.

a) How does qwerty compare to other keyboards if others don't exist.
In other words how do I know qwerty keyboard is better must I not compare with others to decide. I am sure there was no other ones before qwerty.

b)Any reason why the last number after 9 is a zero and not a 10 but then jut above this the numbers go on until 12?

c)Which keys don't you ever use?

For question c) I only use the letters/numbers and shift keys the rest in an enigma to me.
Apart from that I find the keyboard quite irritating and not easy to navigate.
:nonod::rant:
Thanks!

The set of numbers 1-9 followed by 0 are to allow you to enter any number that you need, but the keys above them 1-12 are function keys that perform specific functions for example by pressing ALT & F4 at the same time the current program will close. They are more useful on older systems such as COBOL programs or laptops where they can have dual functions (with the inclusion of a function button) - on my laptop if I press FUNCTION & F4 it will lower the screen brightness, but if I press FUNCTION & ALT & F4 it closes the program.

I used to do software development and I think I use every key.

Another question to ponder is why on a standard keyboard are the numbers on the right hand side listed with 7,8,9 at the top and 1,2,3 at the bottom, but on telephones is reversed with 1,2,3 at the top and 7,8,9 at the bottom?

I did think of that but then if there was a 10 there instead of zero then presumably one would push the key twice for eleven then three times for 12 etc righ? this would be easier then cross hands and numbers?

You are lucky that way I haven't got a clue!

I did not notice these because I never use them.Very interesting.
Again the numerical system is the same on both telephone and remotes.

Again there are two keys for the + sign too!
Must try and figure them out.
Thanks for mentioning them!
