Its been two years. I'm trying to get back into the rhythm of writing again. I'm comforted to still see familiar names in these forums, makes me wonder all the ideas and expressions I have missed. It makes me want to write again for the same recognition :) So this is my formal hello to all the poets I admired so well to remember in this small circle of a world.
One bud outlives the drought
Thrusting violet amid dried jungles of green
and diamond webs of steely grey.
The earth ruptures
Accommodating for the mountainous keep
and subterranean colonies of tunnels and chambers.
The wood was lacquered, painted and sealed
All but one splinter
Which bred and spread insidious gangrene.
The power station melted
Proliferating purple-red neoplasms among cells
and tissues and organs, all parts of a whole.
A flower blossoms
A sidewalk cracks
A deck rots
An atom splits
We are at war!
It is us or them.
Against all odds who will survive?
I am not sure if the imagery in my mind is relayed clearly so please feel free to critique and make suggestions.
