When I used to watch TV, I bought quite a few of those TV Mini-Series
like Gaskell's "North and South" to get a premature taste of the
Book I planned to read. Now, much later I have to realize that I'm
not able anymore to give my own imagination a fair chance on the
actual Book.Very unpleasent indeed.

What are your Thoughts regarding the above ?

I try and avoid movies based off of books that I haven't read, and plan to read.

Even with Winter's Bone where I know everything that happens in the story due to going over it in college, I haven't actually read the book itself and would still like to before I watch the movie.

However, the opposite is true for Graphic Novels/comic.

I never wanted to check out The Walking Dead, Watchmen or V for Vendetta until I watched them. Or played them, like with Dead Space and The Darkness.

Hell, I've even thought about checking out the Assassin's Creed novel, being a huge Assassin's Creed fan.

:iagree:

Just look at all those idiots' bashing comments: "Still a better story than Twilight." I bet all of them never ever touched the novel and based their argument on the crappy movie. The book is way better, and I saw the movie after I finished the book and I was like "Dude, no one will touch the book after watching this."

I was so glad I read the book first.

Twilight is another story, the people who bash it bash it because they think they did lycanthropy and vampires wrong. Truth is, they make themselves look like idiots, not knowing a thing about the mythology of werewolves and the history of vampires in cinema. All you have to do is explain Nosferatu and they shut their mouths.

Don't trust wikipedia too much. The information there is lacking, and some of it just downright didn't happen in the film.
