I open the eyes
so dark and dull,
I hear the wooden floor
as it moans beneath
my one legged mate,
I smell the dust
as it escapes
the three heavy feet
ascending the stairs,
I feel the peeled paint
underneath my fingers
falling off the wall,
I lie on the bed,
before I take off
my extra pair of eyes
and put my antenna
to rest,
I close the eyes
so dark and dull.
