"So I had a date Saturday."
“Dreamy movie stars and candles alone is not a date.” Sondra cracked in her mean spirit way.
“Ha Ha” Was the best my bruised ego could retort.
“Oh baby girl you're serious. With a real boy.” Putting her arm around me in a hug. Then pushing me.
“Yes with a REAL boy.”
“Who?”
“Jake he's a regular at work.”
“Well go on girl spill it. Was he a good kisser?”
YES OH GOD. I'm blushing red hot I know it. She knows it. OH GOD OH GOD NO NO.
Sondra eyes lit up. “Tell me everything.” She was just going to eat it all up. I took a big breath, curled my toes and relaxed them. From the top one … two … three another breath. Oh she is just waiting isn't she.
Jake is tall and unassuming good looking. He has one dimple when he smiles. I see he every Tuesday and Thursday at work. We started flirting two weeks ago when I punched his usual Tuesday up before he got to the register. He was real sweet and I told him “Thursday you'll just have to pay I'll have you cup of white-mocha extra shot no frap or whip already for you.”
“Well then what should I expect to find waiting for me Saturday?” He teased. I saw that dimple it was so nice a genuine. I didn't know what to say … come on Amanda think. Offense no, Defense rude, Lie why, truth … okay.
“I don't know. I don't work Saturdays.”
“huh” He turned head and thought for a second. Smiling at me, just a little bit of teeth “ Then I guess you'll be free to have lunch with me.”
I didn't say anything. Didn't have to. Joyce, the *****, handed him his cup and called “NEXT” right in my ear. Right in my ear, the ***** burrista.
I didn't see him Thursday but the next Tuesday he asked me out again and YES. YES. YES. Well I said I'd call him if I could. We traded numbers and smile. That dimple so so nice. Sigh. Our babies could have dimples.
Saturday the date was really nice. Didn't feel to much like a date though we had lunch and joked around. He has got a lot of my humor and is a little bitter like you Sondra. I blushed a few times and I don't remember how but he got a few more hours out the date by getting me to the arcade across the street. I think it was that dimple he threw out a few times. The arcade was nice and frinedly we had a realy good time then he had to go help a friend move. Convinced me to tag along … okay I offered to drive him. Even though we went in a circle once or twice. Well I couldn't really help his friend move because I swear all he had was dressers and desks and mattress. I was a little sad that I would have to end it before I wanted to. But
oh Sondra he met me at the car. My heart was beating so fast. I couldn't breathe. Is this love. Well at least those are honest brown eyes. He took my hand and lifted me up on a cloud. It was the best kiss. My knees were weak for three blocks.
