Help me find the poem

I heard a poem quoted in a "forum seminar" 15 years ago and could not find it again. One of the lines[as I recall] was:I was born in [some town]and they told me I was a boy. I goes on telling the subject what "they say" about his life and ends with "and now they tell me I am old"
Anyone remember this one??????????

You don't make someone inportand in you life because you are not important in his/hers. Someone does not make you important in your life because he/she is not important in yours.

well there are any number of ways to make a person important in your life and suffer unbearable pain, knowing you're not important in theirs. Loving from a distance is one of them. But as you've redefined what you've originally written, if you can move on, then do so.
