Need Help Remembering Novel

Hello all, I am a new member and need your help with a novel that I cannot seem to remember the name of.

The novel had a story consisting of two sisters, one very beautiful and another ugly. They both lived in a castle with a King. I remember that there was a point where the town was in hard times and when the beautiful daughter went to try to talk to them they cursed at her. She ran away and apparently found some imaginary kingdom or something with a castle that the ugly sister could not see. The ugly sister tried forcing her back to the old castle but she would not go with her.

I really would like to re-read this book so if anyone has an idea to what it is please answer!

There is a book called A Tale of Two Castles by Gail Carson Levine and another by the same author called The Two Princesses of Bamarre.
Is it possible that you are getting them mixed up, if they are connected with your enquiry?
