This morning
I woke
and in stead
of my abdomen
i found a
naughty knot.
It tied me
to memories old,
to dreams spoiled,
to hopes deflected,
to failures elected,
and to some
of the in betweens.
I tried hard
to digest it
(forgetting my
abdomen had
taken a hike).
But the more
I grappled,
the far more
it tangled
(as you known,
knots tend
to do).
This afternoon,
all my friends
and family came
knocking on the door,
but I was busy
rocking back and forth
with my only cohort.
Then, at night,
another knot
came knocking
who had also
taken the stead
of a lover's abdomen.
We hoped
that together
we could unravel
those stubborn
suckers.
Finally, we gave up
and the loose ends
met at our navels
as we pressed to each other
and tied the knots together.
