The Torah, New Testament, The Tao Te Ching, etc. With these texts written thousands of years of ago, how have they stood the test of time, but more importantly why do people consider them sacred and divinely inspired? Is it possible that because they have stood the test of time, like old shoes that don't wear out, that they have a sacred element to them?

If I found gold at the bottom of a well that was three thousand years old, would it still not have some value--because we keep gold as valuable?

I believe, text such as those are not considered sacred because of time. I think they're sacred because of the significance it holds for the people and to the people.
