How can one be happy? A 'good enough' answer that, at least, works for today will do.

Grammatically speaking, the eternal question is boundless, taking so long in the asking that it can never be fully articulated, let alone answered.

But seriously, the eternal question for me has always been (and will ever be) how best to dispose of the time allotted to me. Alas, I'll never really know the answer as I suffer from a terminal case of paralysis through analysis.

so sorry to hear about your case Intravenous. I do not know what paralysis through analysis is but how long have you had it if you do not mind me asking?

I must say I'm at a loss how to respond. You seem to be in earnest, perhaps having misapprehended my meaning, in which case your concern is touching. What I call paralysis through analysis is not a real affliction in any clinical sense; it's a metaphor to describe my habits of mind, which are overanalytical to the point of perpetual indecision and inaction. I can only guess that I developed these tendencies during childhood, probably after having suffered several bitter disappointments when the best laid plans went awry.

Aww, that was rather sweet though.

Cacian isn't a native English speaker and is still learning, so she sometimes needs to ask for clarifications on things (this isn't means as an insult, cacian).

Anyways, I think the eternal question is "What is the eternal question?"

What is reality? It is a question with boundless possible answers for it is that which cannot be known, though we may all have our theories.

Mutatis you got it right there sometimes I miss a meaning or an idea because I read the words literally:)

I would think, what does it all mean? In the sense of literature, it is a self-reflexive feeling of, "What does it mean to have these feelings?" Poetry functions on a question of "What does it mean to be subjective?"

Is there such a thing as an immortal soul? If there is then maybe we are eternal, reincarnating into new bodies until the end of time. That being said, what is time and can it really end?

The eternal question for me is - Is faith possible? Or do we only fool ourselves when we believe something - out of experience or otherwise?

I have no answer to this. I have always moved back and forth with this. My answers to this question are really just my moods. :D I don't think much about this now. Once, in excruciatingly self--torturous days I used to think a lot about this. For a while I made faith to be a rule. But one day in a relaxed mood the rule just fell apart as I questioned it.
