For all of you who have expressed how appalled you were at reading the book, thank God for you. If not the worst book I've ever read, it was a running contender. I've come to think that for a book to be considered a classic nowadays, a panel of judges listens in on the snores of AP and Advanced Lit classes. This book definately meets the criteria on that note. I have to write a 9-12 page essay on Dimmesdale's struggle with coming out with his sin, and I don't know that I can write a full two pages on that, let alone 9-12. Good lord, this may be the last week of my life. So far, the only entertaining part about the book has been the hilarious notes that you all have left on here. I particularly like whoever wrote " This had to be the most horrible book I've ever read." Yes, I hear you my boy, I hear you. So for anyone else out there who has the unbridled and inexhaustible loathing for the book like myself, let it out, don't be afraid to tell the world what you think of the book. Last Semester I had to write yet another essay over one of the chapters in the book, and I found out that as long as I wrote mainly about how pointless and horrid the book really was, I did all right. 97 is not too bad for an AP lit class, especially with a teacher like the one I had. So don't be afraid to denounce the book to the world because doggonit, if you sat through this monster, than you are truly one of the few and the proud, and I salute you!
