View Full Version : Words for Loneliness: A Dedication

Where I was born in death
I rewrote my history
and became a concept
–a thing.

I hide my tears well now
and you may not see
the way they boil
and steam.

But I am unmasked in reflections
where you spot I have none,
instead I am vampiric
and vanished.

There is no going back
or so I tell myself
because I erased my life
to smile.

Though I cannot grin
of any honest kind.
Because birth came late
in blood.

My own blood that shed
and dripped off wrists
that have become callus
and used.

I could kiss myself
and pretend it's enough
to see me in the naked truth
of what I am.

But I can't bandage fear
–pulsing through me
and lighting fuses
of a TNT-Heart.

So I may soon explode
in every color I dreamed
that I could have been
in yesterday.

I hope you see it.

This is a pretty evocative, haunting piece. I like the last lines.

I'm usually satisfied if someone likes at least half a line. So thank you!
