Thread Deletions?

I'm curious, why are whole threes now being deleted instead of just locked? It's kind of unfair to people who actually make contributing posts in a thread (as we saw in the "Are Poets Born not Made" thread) and then the whole thing is deleted because a couple members get into an argument. Posters may want to go back and use a post they made for various reasons.

Sometimes when things get out of hand in a thread and a moderator does not have the time to read/sort things out, we might remove them from public viewing until we can get back to them.

Otherwise, threads rarely disappear.
