My friend said something
about poetry
‘it was words singing’, something like
‘emotive association’,

but that was a glance of cleavage past,

a smile and fiddle of sandal,
the way

her golden skin
shined with sweat till
it dropped,

right in the dark valley
of her frilly green
and orange dress,

cool and
open-topped,
as if to let the air in
for a slow drive in summer,

those glowing motes above her,
dancing under the skylight,
the way she smiled.

I think you said something
I think you said something

about poetry.

Ha! You old dog! Distracted much? Silas, this seems like a good tone to put in your work. Human/confessional, not sure what it's called but it mixes well with your style. You ought to work with it more often! (though maybe you have, what with your Hide and Seek poem from last week?)

Great piece Silas. Tempting lines to keep me wanting more and an excellent finish to exemplify how distracted I had become from where I originally started!

Thanks heaps Jack, Buh4Bee, and Delta for commenting! Glad you liked it, and thought it was a good distraction for a few minute's reading. :) Regarding the style, I used to write a lot of poems like this, and still do. There will be more.
