Ode to Wisdom


Day to day, I see the world unfold

Though, to be honest, not all of it can be told

It’s said the world is a stage, its people merely players

But I know, in my heart, that there are many more layers

If there’s one advice I could give, it would be this:

Passion is wild, but wisdom is bliss

So I gave my heart to know, and to search, and to seek things

To know each in their season, and what each of them brings

And though wisdom brings sorrow and knowledge brings grief

You can bet that True Love will make them both brief

And so, to avoid undue bouts of insanity

Seek out wisdom, and avoid all vanity
