Well if you want to talk songs/singers that make me think back to when I was kid, then it's the country singer Lacy J. Dalton. She was my dad's favorite, and every time I play one of her old songs, then I remember riding in a red '68 Chevy pick-up along the slope of the mountains to go prairie dog shootin'.
Here's some Lacy J: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL8EwHeS8DA
If we're talkin' teens and twenties, then I changed pace, quite a bit. Here's a few that remind me of my more romantic and immature days:
R.E.M.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgiCechWNCo&ob=av2n
And Rage Against the Machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3zDn39VogY&feature=related
Of course, there are a lot of bands and singers of this ilk that I liked a lot at that time and still make me remember the days associated with them.

This. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4pOIndfTzI) It was the first really heavy heavy metal album I owned. I was 10 or something. It's still one of my favorite albums.

Dude, if I ever feel like I'm too mature to enjoy REM or Rage Against the Machine, someone needs to kill me.

Huh? Did I say that I was too mature to like REM?
I still enjoy those bands. I was immature when I first listened to them, though. This thread is about nostalgia, I thought: When I first enjoyed R.E.M. and Rage, I was 19 or 20, in college, worried about chicks, writing poetry at midnight, drinking heavily on the weekends. . . .
Now I'm a father of two, steady job, a house, and an IRA. . . .compared to then, yeah, I'm a lot more mature now than I was then. It happens.

Hm, probably anything by Empyrium. Fond memories of that musical discovery during my early years of high school. Secondary maybe is The Cure, though I look upon them in retrospective less fondly.
