"If i never met you this wouldn't have happened you know"! "It was an accident, I should have left you sitting there"! "You have a ****ing gravitational pull, I couldn't g--" She cuts him off with just a glance, the sirens are getting closer. "I love you", she whispers, wrapping her arms around him. She sobs into his shoulder. She looks as if she is sucking and squeezing the life from him, but she already has in actuality. He eases her off and thinks as she assumes the fetal position on the stiff motel bed. "Come with me", he says quickly, gesturing to her. From the drawer he lifts a sock. He ties a knot at the top, and tosses it to her. "Those are some savings of mine, spend it wisely, okay?" He begins to turn but looks back, "And no drugs this time". The sirens are in the parking lot now. He opens the bathroom door, then the small window. Looking into her moist eyes he speaks softly, "Take the fire escape down, make a left on Alerton Road as you come from the alley", he stops, he could hear them banging on the door. "My car is there, take it and go...NEVER look back". He wipes her face with a towel, hands her the keys to the car, and sends her through the portal, out of this hell, and into the heaven. He watches her as she makes her way to the end of the alley. She looks at the window before she rounds the corner. It was here rebirth, she was free now. The main door finally gives way in two pieces and the sirens overtake him. He had no need to fight, he had fought for the only thing worth while. It made him feel human again. It made his life worth it.
