As many fibres in those eyes have died,
and even though your cells are dull and dry;
despite the fact those data chips are fried,

.....remember that your credit is still high,
and if you wish, for a discounted fee
you can recharge your dwindling energy,
upgrade those mental skills to two point three
and be the system you were meant to be!

Or if you want to gain a few more creds,
take on a few more psyches for the ride!
Of course, that plan’s discouraged by the feds-
but simple pleasures cannot be denied.

Researching market trends is pretty good
and could enable better add-ons too,
although in time such thought-transference could
make you a boring soul- it’s up to you!

I’d recommend the mind upgrading plan
since you’re a fellow with a lot of vim,
you’ve put some clever nodes in you and can
make it alone, right to Valhalla’s Rim!

If on some later date you wish to cease,
Then send a mental message with this tag,
No questions asked. Then seek eternal peace,
safe in your own recycling bag.

I love this verse, the whole poem is great but this verse I love!

Good stuff. I agree with Helga about those lines.

This doesn't miss a beat, Silas. Interesting and enjoyable read. Love the last three lines, but it seems a bit telling and the poem doesn't need it. Or was this your signature, Megamind?

I enjoyed the poem Silas, mainly because I lack the meter which you have and its entertainment value. the other impressive part is this:

01010100 01100001 00100000 00100001 00100000 00100000 00101000 01110011 01101000 01101111 01110010 01110100 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110010 00100000 01110100 01100001 01110010 01110010 01100001 01100100 01101001 01100100 01100100 01101100 01100101 00101001 00101100 00001101 00001010 01110100 01100001 01101001 01101100 01101111 01110010 00100000 01010011 01010100 01000001 01010100 01000101 01001100 01011001 00100000

I wonder if there is a poetic pattern here that some of our more respected critics can find and comment on - preferably in binary talk! I'm still in 101 phase so the only response I can give is 11001 10101. Sorry. That's all I know :-)

I was out of breath as I reached the lines
01010100 01100001 00100000 00100001 00100000 00100000 00101000 01110011 01101000 01101111 01110010 01110100 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110010 00100000 01110100 01100001 01110010 01110010 01100001 01100100 01101001 01100100 01100100 01101100 01100101 00101001 00101100 00001101 00001010 01110100 01100001 01101001 01101100 01101111 01110010 00100000 01010011 01010100 01000001 01010100 01000101 01001100 01011001 00100000 - all, absolutely ALL - sums up to 10! amazing, amazing, amazing, a....!

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm pretty sure the rondeau 'Message' by Wendy Cope influenced me a little bit in writing this poem, as did Dr. Seuss' 'Oh, the places you'll go'.

Helga: Thanks! Yes, I was rather proud of those particular lines. But yes, as firefangled has suggested, it might be a good time to remove the tag.

Thanks Tailor Stately, Cafolini and Jack of Hearts for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was good practice for me, and happy that it was able to entertain you too.

firefangled: Thanks a lot. I'm so glad you are pleased with the meter, since this poem has been the most sustained work in the iambic pentameter for me up until now.
I think you are right about the last few lines, the poem doesn't really need them, and they detract from the tone of the last few lines of verse closing the poem. However, this line did corrupt the linguistic code of several people, so was not entirely worthless. [Cue evil laugh]

Delta and Bar: I'm also really happy that you guys enjoyed this one too. Regarding the binary, are you aware that you've both cited Taylor Stately's signature? Oh well, it's all a collection of 1s and 0s anyway. The poem is the other stuff. I'll make this binary disappear sometime later today anyway. It's too hard to get your mouth around anyway! ;)
