I would like to attain fluency in Spanish. What are the best methods, aside from speaking, that will allow me to gain the linguistic foundations provided to students? Are there any instructional texts that could be recommended that would help me construct those foundations for myself?

You probably want to start by checking out the U.S. Foreign Service Institute language courses, which were developed by the U.S. Government and are public domain.

You can torrent books on almost any subject, provided that you are not morally opposed to doing so. I myself have books on Latin, Chinese, and German, and staying true to my user name, I have not begun to read any of them.

Just Google something like, "spanish textbook torrent" and you'll probably find everything you need.
