I don't know what to make of it. I'm befuddled. It leaves my mind

Fair enough I'll explain. A family who are distant agree to meet. One member says no and uses the cost of the buffet as an excuse. But the price they are paying is much higher than $11.

I could be wrong, but is what someone's taking a pass on riding on a bus? At least, the central section seems to imply that's what's being rejected. Though the "making peace" bit is quite curious... I guess you're thinking that it's quite peaceful on such bus rides? I dunno, I may be completely off here. Or maybe they're rejecting joining others who are going to a buffet because the buffet is $11?
