I'd love to have some thoughts on this play. I had to read it earlier this year for my English AP class, and I've had conflicting thoughts about it. Sometimes I think it says something substantial about the pointlessness and absurdity of life, you know, all the existential themes. At other times, I feel like it's just a pessimistic way of looking at the world. What do y'all think? (Yes, I say y'all...don't laugh too hard).

I read the play and loved it, then I saw the play and hated it, go figure. It's at times hilarious and relevent but at other times it drags a bit. I guess it is a lot like life! When I was in highschool I played Gogo, some of the lines were so funny I'll never forget them. D

I also thought it was funny, and I happened to be the only person in my class that thought so. When GoGo and DiDi are going back and forth, fighting like a married couple, I had to laugh out loud sometimes. :D These two kept waiting for Godot to come rescue them from their poverty and boredom, day after day, and it seemed to me that they knew he would never come. The point, I thought, was that Godot was their hope for a better life...he was what made them wake up every day, complain about their boots, switch hats, talk to Pozzo and Lucky...Whether he came or not, he was what made their pointless lives seem a little less absurd. He gave them purpose and direction (even if they never did accomplish anything.)
