Aphorism #286 Do not become responsible for all or for every one,

otherwise you become a slave and the slave of all. Some are born more fortunate than others: they are born to do good as others to receive it. Freedom is more precious than any gifts for which you may be tempted to give it up. Lay less stress on making many dependent on you than on keeping yourself independent of any. The sole advantage of power is that you can do more good. Above all do not regard responsibility as a favour, for generally it is another's plan to make one dependent on him.http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/q2VFz0IH45bYDTII--rCynCgYH4/0/di (http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/q2VFz0IH45bYDTII--rCynCgYH4/0/da)

We are slaves in fact and slavery is something we cannot dodge. In family we have to accept slavery or else we can not be in harmony with the rest of members. In office we have to keep your mind on what we are assigned or else we get fired. In society we have to be present whenever they call on us or else we will be deemed unsocial or antisocial. Even if we become monks there is dependency on others and when we have to hinge on others we will have to shed part of our self –pride. We can hypothesize total freedom but when it comes down to living in society or out of society as monks there are forms dependency that in turn lead to slavery, in different variants.

I have to listen to what my wife will say or else I will be unloved or ignored or un-empathized and I cannot stand the apathy when I am in family and I cannot have solo decisions and I have to melt down into the collective interests in my family
