Formalism in schools

I've realized I tend to prefer formalism over, say, historicism. I know they can share much in common but was wondering if there were any graduate schools that were mainly focused on formalism. I hear they are easier to find in Europe but I really do not know where to find information on this. Any help is appreciated.
