You mimicked someone
From the grassed grave,
Even when you tried
To murder yourself.

Not wanting to die,
You slit the veins
Between your arm
And bony left wrist.

The dull butter knife
Your grandma owned
Couldn't cut straight
Brisket and raw steak.

Sergei Yesenin did that
And tragically failed too,
So he noosed the rope
Above the wooden chair.

You thought the same-
Kicking and hanging high,
But decided instead:
A plagiarist must not die.

Interesting. I need to read more about this story.
Nice poem.

Thanks, Shadow. I tried to write an allegory of sorts, attempting to compare suicide to plagiarism, whose success to fool is a hit-or-miss kind of thing, and illustrate metaphorically the invincibility of plagiarists in the world of literature.

they attempt to hide their true work, as a sort of self-preservation from any direct exposure to criticism. also their true work is probably haphazard and ineffective, especially since skill development is unimportant.

i enjoyed yours, and admire your edits!
edit: oh, and suicide rhymes with tried, lol
