Feathers From The Sky

Oh Christine, how I longed to find Your lips again;
Though You exist no longer on the earth to see,
But in the realms of the heavenly.
Your sleeping tears drip like mist from the sky
Where I stand on the other side,
Against an inscription of words
Chiseled on Your grave.
They cannot mean anything to me
If I can't touch the very hands
That by the power of love attached to mine.

And so I beseech the very God
To bring Your presence back from time.
Not of yesterday, but in the present air;
So I can speak to You
Of the things my heart now holds...
Devastation and loneliness,
Knowing without You I grow old.

It is with sweet bitterness
Having once seen the birds of heaven
Gazing through Your eyes,
Having now to see wayward feathers
Fall out of the sky.

Morbidly beautiful or beautifully morbid. Poems about death and longing always touch me, although I am no emo. Thanks!
