Natural Procreation

Limbs to limbs,
skin upon skin,
the fly and the mosquito
touch, bite, and copulate,
on the surfaces of leaves,
along the curves of stems,
in the crevices of flowers
the sun dries for them.

Although one sips blood
and the other devours feces,
the two must procreate
for the petals and honey,
for maidens and virgins,
for the blessing and the dead,
for the resurrection and rebirth
of the long-gone bees.
