Getting Focused

There's the inspiration
lying on its side,
pages curled
at the corner
while balls of cat hair
finally connect to make another cat
that runs off to find a new owner.
Elton John won't let the sun
go down on me
and the blinds slam their message
against the window frames.
You just can't keep the world at bay forever
with rainforest plug in air fresheners.
Doors are bound to burst open,
destroy those cheap shot souvenirs,
yank old streamers off the ceiling
and leave you standing,
focused,
with or without your glasses.
