Traffic Stop

Cruising down the main street of this sleepy little town
Cops are out all over, slowing traffic down
Now me, I'm just a redneck in a Chevy pickup truck
So of course they pull me over, and ask me if I'm drunk
I say " Sorry man, I was just listening to the beat
Of the music on the radio and dancing in my seat
Sorry if it made me swerve, I ain't looking for any trouble
Hey! You ain't gonna find an open can or bottle in all that floorboard rubble!
Step out of the truck? OK, man. I'll walk the line
Sure, I'll take a breath test, but you're just wasting time!
Can I go now? Watch my attitude! Hey, I totally cooperated!
You gave me all your tests, I passed, how about congratulations?
Yeah, you have a good day now. Me, I'm doing fine
I ain't been drinking but now there's a cold one on my mind...

I'm not sure about the rhythm of the poem Pendragon but I really enjoyed the dialogue all the way through, which I imagined as a well spaced monologue. This takes some of the rhyme and rhythm factor out and makes it a rather interesting performance piece that I'd love to watch.
