"Ok, open your eyes,"
Is what she told me.
When I did,
There was a river.
There were rocks,
and birds, and butterflies.
The water--cold, clear--
swallows my toes; spits them out.
And it's alive,
so alive outside.
"Ok, now close your eyes,"
She tells me again.
All disappears,
all becomes blackness.
And I'm dead,
so dead inside.
Is what she told me.
When I did,
There was a river.
There were rocks,
and birds, and butterflies.
The water--cold, clear--
swallows my toes; spits them out.
And it's alive,
so alive outside.
"Ok, now close your eyes,"
She tells me again.
All disappears,
all becomes blackness.
And I'm dead,
so dead inside.
