I are a old clothespeg
Clinging to the inner line
Rusty hinge holding on
Unclip me I'd crumble
No more the bright
Translucent flurescence
Now just matt plastic
Faded and forgot
Sunbeaten weatherworn
With a white birdpoo
Polymers broke down
Yonks ago

But the things I pinned!
From sheets to shirts
Undies and socks with holes
Towels and trousers
To the grandest cashmere
Jumpers and cardigans
Miniskirts and frocks
Brasierres and stockings
Hats and scarfs

I clasped them all
As though my life
Depended on it

Peg pt 2

Not the most eventful way
To spend my simple peggy life
But I've enjoyed most every day
Through butter with a hot knife

I've done what was expected
And I must say done it well
Only doing as I was directed
Because I had no talent to sell

But all things change over time
And last night my fortune too
Bolt of energy made me chime
Just like that - out of the blue!

Now with relative superpowers
First thing: well I'll jump down
To frollick among the flowers
Think I'll go for a look around

Who's heard of pegs with legs?
You have now, and it's terrific!
I'll be the envy of legless pegs
Whose lifestyle is but soporific

Such fun is this moving about
Doing things I'm not supposed
Now I want to dance and shout
This is the life I would've chose

But these things aren't up to us
And only with a magic infusion
No more feel waiting for a bus
And no philosophical confusion

'I'm here, I'm going over there!'
So simple this thought process
No: 'Wonder if I'll peg in future?'
Now I have a sense of progress
