You've been thrown to the lions again.
The wardens blowing whistles
are calling for the tamers
with their ect guns and nets.
Man down.
I've got this photograph, you sit
opposed diagonally
against the street
like some eldritch James Dean.
Outstretched jacket.
As an American I must confess
that I'm fond of
Cantos, but never bothered
to finish reading them.
Forgone conclusion.
The lions, they will eat you.
Children scream at your window.

they balk at your sketches in the dirt.
Lost cause.

admit that
I'm more vexed by the bars
