View Full Version : Faulkner thesis - too broad?

Hey guys,

I'm writing a 2000 word paper (7-8 pages, double space) on William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying. I want to prove that, as a way of condemning modern southern consciousness, Faulkner connects the collective unconscious of the Bundrens back to the consciousness of the corrupted people that God wiped out in the flood. The last paper I wrote for my prof was "smart" but ultimately "failed" because the thesis was too broad, and I don't want to make that mistake twice. Is this too broad for a 2000 word essay? If so, do you have any ideas on how I could narrow it down?

Thanks.

I don't think it is too broad, but if you are worried, discuss it with your prof.

Okay, thank you.
