Ah they forgot you!
They forged their own name
Over your soul
They made you pray
To their own God
In the flesh
What a blast
What a gentleman
With the grieving smile
He was just like you
Handing out lollipops
Out in the back room
In the dark room
Away from prying eyes
He was one of the masters
Fallen from the sky
Thinking of ways
To divide you
The congregations
The tardy candies
He'd feed you
Ah sister didn't see
She fell to quick sleep
With hollow faces
Around her grave
The sign of the cross
What was not to be
The love of she
Was not born of truth
She reaped
The better adventure
And so earth to dust
The church bells rang
Indented to the ground
As ashes from a far away
Ash Wednesday
Spread across the sky
And us with our mindless stare
In the books we are assured
Speak the truth
Though who would dare
Question the master
Who creeps away
With the hood on at night
Turning back to save
Another glance
Another victory over souls
And with his sinister walk
He continues on
Into even deeper darkness
Where he patrols for more
Fools and sages
He will open the book
Let out a little laugh
"What sermon shall I
Deliver tomorrow
To the little flock"
As the darkness
Gets a deeper hold
He will grasp
A soothing tea
Let out a sigh
And look out from high a mountain
"What shall I offer thee"
With a burst of laugh
"All these I will offer thee
The world and its charms"
As the creep of daylight
Grasp the tender flowers
In the field
With the beauty of God
In the sky
The parishioners yawn
Sure of their security
Yet a tap of the wind
No one there
Back to their affairs
But somewhere
Down the cobblestone road
He walks with the book
Glaring with a smile
Good day there!
They forged their own name
Over your soul
They made you pray
To their own God
In the flesh
What a blast
What a gentleman
