Word Puzzle

I've got a word puzzle. It's where you have to make one word into another, changing only one letter each time, with strictly only 4 words in between.

for example -

KEPT to SAND = KEPT, WEPT, WENT, WANT, WAND, SAND.

WILL to SEEK = WILL, WILD, WELD,WEED, SEED, SEEK.

However there are 2 I just can't get.

LOST-HACK and FOOL-WEPT.

I can do them with 5 but not squeeze it into 4. any takers?
