It just occurred to me that as spread out as everyone is, and with all the traveling people do, it might be nice to have a thread where people can announce destinations and maybe set up a meeting for lunch or dinner, or just a quick passing-through handshake. For example, I have a good friend downstate who lives not terribly far from Mutatis, so I'll certainly be shouting out to him before my next visit there, whenever that may be.

You are the adventurous type, aren't you? It's not a terribly bad idea, heck, it could be fun!

I'm in... the middle of nowhere. I very much doubt if any litnetter will be within 1000kms of my area. However, I'm moving to Vancouver in August.

Are you kidding me? I thought you were somewhere down around Houston. I live in Shreveport, LA and every so often I take a trip over to the Dallas Galleria.

We have plants in Fort McMurray, Fort Saskatchewan, Prince George and a few other places are those anywhere near you?

Everyone knows where I live, sleepy bourgeois Saarburg in the Trier area, Germany. If anyone comes this way, you can visit Karl Marx's birth house (and see a lot of Chinese).

A lot of Chinese tourist everywhere these days. When I did my undergrad at McGill they used to wander around the campus taking pictures of the buildings. I'm not sure they'd ever heard of the school, or much cared about it, but I think bus tours dropped them there for some reason.

:p Closest is Fort Sask, it's just outside of edmonton about 400kms away. Alberta's a lot of big, empty space.
But the serious question here, is WHY ARE YOU GOING TO FORT MCMURRAY!?! That place is hell on earth! Haven't you ever seen Fubar II?

Haha, one time a whole group of them came to the building where I work and wandered around taking pictures of everything. The cheesy decorations in the restaurant, the boss's dog tied to the bike rack outside, the bowl of apples on the counter, me typing, everything... I thought they were a particularly strange bunch of Chinese tourists, but I guess they weren't all that uncommon.

I wish!
.....
I'm in Sarajevo, Bosnia. But I was in Washington DC last so might be dropping by again in the near future, and sometimes I head back to what I deem as my second home, Seattle.

You're in Shreveport? I did not know that. I mean, Louisiana is BIG, so I always thought of you as somewhere far, far away. Give me a holler, papaya, when you have an urge to visit The Galleria. I'll spring for a burger at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, OK?
I have always wanted to visit Lake Caddo which is apparantly only thirty minutes from you. We're only three and a half hours apart! We should really try to do a little meet up this summer. You know Gilliat also lives in the area and Stephofthenight is just down the road also.
