~The Father & The Gravedigger~
Wiping his hands of dirt as he walks from the grave,
The father went back to a life of privilege and betrayal
Of the holy one, who he spoke in the name of;
A man of contradictions; denials in his heart.
The person he helped bury was not saved
But sealed in purgatory, without an answer up high;
Denied privilege to the holy gates,
Locked in a time of foolish edicts, falsehoods and charms.
As the father went back to his grave
He uttered one last prayer no one understood
Other than the drunken gravedigger,
Who wiping his hands of another job
Staggers to another grave.
Wiping his hands of dirt as he walks from the grave,
The father went back to a life of privilege and betrayal
Of the holy one, who he spoke in the name of;
A man of contradictions; denials in his heart.
The person he helped bury was not saved
But sealed in purgatory, without an answer up high;
Denied privilege to the holy gates,
Locked in a time of foolish edicts, falsehoods and charms.
As the father went back to his grave
He uttered one last prayer no one understood
Other than the drunken gravedigger,
Who wiping his hands of another job
Staggers to another grave.
