I feel that everyone has a right to state his or her opinion. Those who felt that this book was remarkable and very engaging have a taste for the classic and the romantic. Those who find this book boring and uninteresting have, in my opinion a love for fast paced action and adventure-filled novels.

As for me, I loved this book tremendously. I don't think that there ever was a love story written about two rivals such as Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, the former wise and sharp-witted and the latter proud but not without a soft heart.

It is very interesting to see how the two detest each other in the beginning but later learn from each other that being proud and prejudiced is human and that everyone unknowingly posseses them in some degree or the other. But one can make the better of himself/herself by seeing things as they are and not as they seem.

Elizabeth is a very dear character, her satirical comments and her wit giving a generous amount of good humour and Darcy though not amiable at first, his tenderness for Elizabeth soon win our hearts and our approval.

I say that this book is a first-rate read for all who are young at heart and have a longing for the romanticism of the past. This is most definitely Jane Austen's best work.
