Delta40 has done something naughty
She's packed up her bags and fled!!!
By God Almighty she's shipped off to Blighty
Making a house in a cargo crate of lead
To bypass X-rays, thus hidden by haze
She smuggles herself ashore
Dragging her suitcase with filigree lace
Enjoying the sights, sounds, and more
Then she visits the beach
To plant a flag - what a wag
But Buck House is a bit out of reach
To claim Britain in the name of Oz!
Trudging through snow she hastens to go
To catch some of those sketches by Boz!
Down streets she wanders, and ponders, and wonders
Oh to Hell with this - I need a fix!
As she hops into the nearest pub
Karaoke and poledancing for the firemen she's fancying
And creating a central hub
While London burns she twirls and turns
Demanding: Give me some more warm beer!
It isn't really - just so bloomin' chilly
They switch off the fridge without fear
Better I s'pose, than this runny nose
And far better than no ale at all!
Hear! Hear! the crowd starts to cheer
She loves it! She's having a ball!
The drinks are on me! Though not literally!
While you're there pour me one for the road!

Soon it grows quiet as she slips through the night
Dreaming up mischief for tomorrow
London was a cinch - took it inch by inch
Wait til I take on Manchester and Harrow!

Nice. Funny. I liked "The drinks are on me! though not literally!" line as well as many others.

I don't read many poems on here, but when I do and decide to check out one of yours, MM, it never disappoints.

Were you one of those friendly locals I cavorted with at The Bell lastnight?

A fantastic poem by a fantastic poet for a fantastic person. :)
Errr...am I indulging in tautology?

Before this poem I couldn't picture Delta in a pub...but I can see her brewing her own beer and hosing down her chicken in her yard with it. Mmmm mmm MMM beer battered chicken for supper!

Sorry got carried away. A fun poem MM, you really captured the feistiness of our favorite Aussie poet.

It's a fun poem MM and full of wit. I'll try to do your lines proud. I'm honoured to have a poem written about me! Pasting this one to my favourites of course...

Adorable! You do capture Delta's adventurous spirit, but no one can rhyme like you, MM. :)
