thunderous cracks
sky rips apart
thick and black

atop an edifice
a figure flickers
scouring the night
behind a mask

cape flutters
leaps into abyss
city lights sparkle
lands in alley

senses tingle
smells the wind
hears a scream
sharp eyes peer

up fire-escapes
over rooftops
down drainpipes
through the sewer

bubbly voices
gills flip flap
tails swing

Scaly Villains!


SMASH!!! CRUNCH!!!
KICK!!! THWACK!!!

ties them up
leaves a note
climbs back out


into the storm

I just finished reading a LitNutter's short story on a similar topic. It must be
National Superhero's Day along with Leap Year Day.

Your verse seems to capture the quick "action" of a superhero's movements, along with the sound effects approximately translated into nonce words and transcribed into big colorful type --comic sans serif? --within jagged bursts jumping out of comic book panels.
