Best way to find essays on literary topics?

I'm writing an essay about what I consider to be trend in fiction: emotion seems more disguised in stories these days as opposed to older stories in which the emotion was more pronounced. I'm not the most widely read of people, the essay is just for a low level English class, but I'm interested in finding out if other experts, students, professors etc... have covered this topic and what they have to say about emotion/emotional trends in contemporary literature.

Any ideas on how to go about researching?

There are several catalogues online which link with different research centers or published essays, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a list somewhere here in the forum. These are often known in libraries and universities, asking someone in a big Library can help you find information such as the one you search online.
