Well I guess I was a sucker for Everybody Hurts. Great song to play when you're down to remind you you're not the only one in the world feeling like crap....

I haven't bought an album of theirs since Monster but those that came before that are fantastic. Green is my favorite although they all have their moments of genius...all before Monster that is. :p

Started listening to them many years ago - like 25 years ago! I reckon

"Reckoning" is one of their best.

My husband and I really like them too. Good rock band, good lyrics, and original. R.E.M has been around for a long time, proving they are solid.
My favorite right now is Death Cab for Cutie.

Idril, I agree that everything pre-Monster is very very good! The seem to lose their way a bit starting with Monster. They did produce some classics post Automatic. Imitation Of Life and Leaving New York are classic REM songs!

Great band. I went to one of their concerts when they were touring for Green back in the 90's.

I think Document is probably my favorite. Although I used to play Green over and over again.

Excellent band - big fan.

These stand out for me: "Happy Shiney People", "Stand", "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)", "Losing My Religion", and as Delta40 noted "Everybody Hurts".
