Alarming clock bursts into song
Head vibrates in sympathy
Fumbling to turn it off
Throw it out the window
Starlight splinters into shards
So surly so early

Must be important

No time for a shower
Get dressed smart quick
Hotfoot it out the window
Two stories up
Land in the rubber bushes
Soft
Crawl through weeds
Of shredded cardboard

On my feet I walk the street
Of plush pile rugs
Houses of colourful candy
Pause to chew a chiklet picket

But - huh?

Plastic bicycles and
Papier mache cars
Pass by putt-putting
To where?

Rhinoceros in intricate silks
Roars a raucous laugh
'To where indeed? Saturday no less!'

'So soon?' I splutter
'Sunday last I looked...'

'No?' pointing to the sky
And cartwheels away
Chased by a porky policeman

Up ahead a manhole
A shortcut through oblivion
But inside it's even worse
Robots on the rampage
Tearing each other to bits

Run, run, run, run, run
Until I catch my breath

And slowly fall awake

Very surreal, but I very much enjoyed the journey. Thanks for that little escape. :) Your poems are always a treat.

lol. That felt like all dreams tumbling into the sound of the alarm clock. Nice work MM!
